What Therapy is Like With Me, Erica Zisman
Therapy can look a little different with each therapist, and I recognize that you may have a lot to choose from. This is why I wanted to share what therapy is really like with me. If you’re curious about working together, you can explore what I offer through therapy for kids and teens here.
I think it’s important that you feel really solid about your decision, and I hope this helps you get to know me a bit more. I want therapy to feel like a safe and supportive place for all clients because let’s be real, your time is valuable, and I know therapy isn’t always affordable for everyone.
In my 8+ years as a therapist, I’ve learned that clients do best with some information, but not an overload of information, so I plan to do just that.
My style is warm, collaborative, and eclectic. I love to implement different modalities into therapy because I believe that being a human is complex, what may work for someone might not work for someone else. I’m truly in the “room” with you during therapy.
I listen, I respond, I provide thought-provoking questions, and I might challenge you. I’m empathetic and always focused on helping you or your child grow in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable at your pace. I bring real tools and strategies into sessions, paired with space for honesty, emotions, humor when appropriate, and the kind of conversations that help people understand themselves more deeply.
What Therapy is Like With Me:
Warm, kind, and genuinely human — I truly want you to get what you need out of therapy for however long we work together
A blend of modalities — For some meditation is super helpful, for others, focusing on skill-building is really helpful. Other people being able to share their full, authentic story, it’s all welcome here
Grounded, intuitive, and never judgmental — You’re in charge here, and I want you to know that you can come to me if you feel mis-attuned to at any point
Supportive communication — This is important between me and my clients, as well as, between myself and the parents I work with
Flexible and real — I know life gets hectic sometimes, and I’m here for all the ups and the downs both in session and with scheduling and consistency
Emotionally safe — I care about you and I want you to be able to process your emotions at your own pace. Oftentimes, therapy is the first time someone has actually had the chance to feel their feelings (looking at you, my fellow intellectualizers)
Armed with skills and experience — I know what it’s like to deal with anxiety, perfectionism, life transitions, and emotional dysregulation on a personal level and I know the tools that actually help
*If this resonates with you, I’d love to connect. You can reach out to schedule an intro call with me. I cannot wait to get to know you.
