Meet Erica Zisman
LCSW & Virtual Therapist
Hi, I’m Erica, and I’m so glad you made your way here.
I work with big feelers because, truthfully, I am one.
I understand what it’s like to care deeply, hold yourself to high standards, and carry more than most people realize. Anxiety and perfectionism don’t always look ‘loud.” Sometimes they look like responsibility, achievement, and “having it together,” and I know how exhausting that can be.
Before starting my private practice, I worked in clinical settings and as a school social worker, supporting children and families navigating anxiety, school stress, emotional regulation challenges, and life transitions. In addition to my clinical work, I also teach college-level courses in psychology and sociology, which deepens my perspective on development, identity, and the broader systems that shape mental health. I have always loved working with children and teens, but over time, I’ve realized that those children and teens turn into young adults, who can also use support.
This is why I work with what I call, “big feelers.”
My clients are the kids who can’t turn off their thoughts, the teens who care about well, everything, and the high-achievers who don’t know how to slow down. Essentially I specialize in working with kids, teens, and 20-somethings who deal with often high-functioning anxiety and a whole lot of empathy.
As a virtual therapist serving clients across New York, I understand how important it is to have steady, safe, and practical support from a therapist who truly gets it. My therapy approach is grounded in evidence-based therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), internal family systems (IFS), mindfulness-based strategies, and trauma-informed care. But therapy with me is just as much about developing real tools as it is about real insight.
I don’t rush the process or add more pressure, though I may challenge you at times. I don’t see sensitivity or ambition as problems to fix.
Together, we slow things down, understand the patterns driving the anxiety, and build the kind of self-trust that lasts outside the therapy room.
